How does Carometer know my real fuel economy?

Log a full tank with your odometer, then the next full tank. Carometer divides the fuel you put in by the distance between them. After two full fill-ups you see your car’s real number, and every fill-up after that keeps it current.

What does the ± next to my range mean?

It’s an honest band. Right after a full tank it’s narrow; the longer since your last fill-up or gauge check, the wider it gets. Tap “What does your gauge say?” to tighten it.

I forgot to log a fill-up. What now?

Carometer notices when the numbers don’t add up and asks roughly how much you put in. You can also skip it; that fill-up simply won’t count towards your economy.

I only know what I paid, not the litres.

That’s the default. Type the amount, and Carometer works out the litres from today’s price for your grade. If the price at the pump was different, change it once and it’s remembered.

How do trips start automatically?

Open Settings in Carometer and choose Automatic trips. It walks you through two Shortcuts automations, one that starts a trip when CarPlay connects and one that ends it when CarPlay disconnects. You can always start and end trips by hand, from the app, your Watch or CarPlay.

Which iPhones can I talk to?

Speaking to Carometer needs an iPhone with Apple Intelligence, in English for now; more languages arrive as Apple supports them on device. Siri works on every iPhone that runs Carometer.

Can I use it with more than one car?

Yes. Add as many cars as you like, each with its own economy, reminders and costs. Switch cars from the title on Today, or by tapping the car on your Watch.

Does it work on iPhone Duo?

Yes. Closed, the controls move to the right edge; open, Carometer uses the larger display for more of your car at once.

What happens if iCloud is off?

Everything keeps working on the device; it just won’t sync to your other devices.

Can I export my trips?

Yes. In Trips, choose Export mileage log to share a CSV with every trip’s date, distance, purpose and cost.
